Among these, hostgator has got the best support, so I would personally recommend them. If you have a reasonable budget and wont need too much disk space, you can checkout some of the better hosts that doesnt oversell. Hosts like liquidweb are pretty good, if you dont mind paying a bit extra.

Been with Hostgator for about a year. A couple of short outages at the beginning. Nothing during the last several months. Hostgator has free 24X7 telephone support. Something that really came in handy the couple of times I had trouble. They only backup once a week, and the current backup overwrites the previous one, so make sure you take your own backups if you have critical data.

I have had a HG account for almost 5 years now. Think in that time I only ever had maybe 2 hours total downtime. Super fast support. Had a DH account for about 2 years and it was alright. Had a bit of downtime and didn’t really hit it off with support. But at the time DH was offering the best deals that you could find. Over all both are good services, I preffer HG but I think it would just come down to personal choice in the end.

Hostgator has been good for me so far. I have had to go into livechat for support or submit a ticket several times (I just submitted one involving addon redirects), but the support is overall good. It was a bit slow today, but they seem to be undergoing major changes to the support system.

Unfortunately, I have had a couple of instances where “I dunno man, just hack a .htaccess file” or “that is already enabled on the server – thanks for your ticket (we’re not going to look into your problem, though)” happened, but nothing too bad so far. The ticket I just submitted will determine whether I stay with them, though, ironically enough.

I recommend hostgator as a cheap, fast, mostly reliable host. Make sure you use the $0.01 promo code for your first month in case you run into any issues, though.
